ne of the most exciting ways to take to the air is in a helicopter. Aviation, in particular rotary wing, is a specialist subject that I photograph. The pictures below show one of the new helicopters that came into service with the London Metropolitan Police Service in the summer of 2007. The state of the art Eurocopter EC145 has taken airborne law enforcement in the capital to a new level of sophistication, in readiness for the forthcoming Olympics and emerging terrorist threats. Each machine has a price tag of around £5M and is packed with the very latest technology. The bottom picture shows an Alouette III of the Austrian Air Force during the precision landing excercise at the World Helicopter Championships in 2008.
